Sunday Services Calendar
February 5 - What Would MLK See Today?
In the fourth of her services on "Seeing Through Different Eyes," Carol Fitzgerald will encourage us to start off Black History Month by examining the past and current state of racism in our nation. We'll consider what Martin Luther King would see if he came back to us today. Our hymns will also reflect different aspects of the African-American experience in our nation..
February 12 - "Lin's Annual Love Sunday"
One of our UU sources is "inspiration from the words and deeds of prophetic women and men which challenge us to confront powers and structures of evil with justice, compassion, and the transforming power of love. How aware are we of the power of love? Through our exploration of some of the various kinds of love, both positive and negative, hopefully we will gain insights to promote health and balance in ourselves and the world at large. Lin Foster, presiding.
February 19 - "Standing on the Side of Love"
In the UUA (the Unitarian Universalist Association), "Standing on the Side of Love" has been a phrase used to promote our support for marriage equality and for LGBT (lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender) civil rights. On this Sunday after Valentine's Day, join us as Rev. Ruby Nancy leads an exploration of this and many other courageous ways we can be "Standing on the Side of Love."
Board meeting at 9:30 a.m.
Earth Cinema ("King Corn") at 1:00 p.m.
February 26 - Australian Aboriginal "Dreamtime"
"Cooma el ngruwar, ngruwar of cooma, illa booka mer ley urrie urrie." (One is all, all is one, the soul will not die.) According to Aboriginal belief, all life as it is known today, human, animal, bird or fish, is part of an unchanging interconnected system, one vast network of relationships which can be traced to the great Ancestor Spirits of Dreaming. April Wise will help us look at Australian Aboriginal spirituality which underlies the whole of their culture - music, art and stories.
The Last Sunday Plate Collection will go to The Heifer Project. We plan to purchase a 'critter' in memory of the late Margaret Sauer, a friend of the UUF and gifted artist who gave us three of her largest paintings. Look around - you'll see them on our walls.
