Charlie Kirk, age 31, was a conservative activist who was
assassinated on 9/10/25 at Utah Valley University
We Unitarian Universalists (UUs) see his violent death as a huge loss*, for his family and loyal followers, AND for our United States' Democracy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*A life, especially a young life, cut short, is always a loss
for those who cared about that life and what it stood for.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*It is also a loss for our Country, because we have become
unable to see EVERY PERSON as more than their origins
and values. Many of us see this as having
disasterous results for all of us.
So...WHAT DO WE DO NOW? OUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
TO START;
#1: We need to refrain from judging people as "bad" by our first impression. This is hard to do, but not impossible.
#2: We need to stop seeing other persons as them, and ourselves as us. We are more alike than different, and we ALL deserve to be treated as worthy of being. This is harder than #1, but doable. It takes self- and other-awareness, and truthful help.
We can Do it!
