Ketanji Brown Jackson is a current federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. She is the nominee for the vacant Associate Justice position on SCOTUS, the Supreme Court of the United States.
In her private life, she is a wife to Patrick, and a mother to daughters Leila and Talia. She also happens to be African-American, and that appears to be a problem for some Americans. Racism still exists in our country, as it has since our founding nearly 250 years ago, and has resulted in loss of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for many people over the years.
Poet Laureate, Maya Angelou, could have been talking about Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson when she wrote her poem about being a determined, undaunted Black woman in America .
